Everything begun when a group of dynamic talented young people realized that they were not only friends but that they shared the same love and devotion for pure bred dogs. After some interesting meetings and two great dog shows in 1972 and 1973 headed by the great all round judge Mr. STANLEY DANGERFIELD of the KENNEL CLUB ( England ), the KENNEL CLUB OF LEBANON WAS OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZED IN ITS OWN COUNTRY IN July 1974 and by the FEDERATION CYNOLOGIQUE INTERNATIONALE in Thuin , Belgium as an associated member in May 1975.
In October 1975 a CACIB championship dog show was taking place in Beirut , Lebanon . Lively brochures has been distributed by one of our main sponsors our national airline MEA to all their offices in the world, the Lebanese Embassies and to all the Kennel Clubs everywhere. Pools of great sponsors were working hard, all the press were enthusiastic, registration forms were pilling up. Unfortunately, everything had to be cancelled due to the tragic events that struck on Lebanon . And for a long time.
The KENNEL CLUB OF LEBANON could not take care really of the STUD BOOKS or Dog Shows. It was war and everyday life was tragic and unbearable. When the situation was finally better the KENNEL CLUB OF LEBANON had to fight again to reestablish its authority and prove the importance of its existence. Unfortunately when the KENNEL CLUB OF LEBANON turned back to the FCI they were shocked to know that they had lost their affiliation to the FCI. Nevertheless they stood back bravely again with an aim. Be a contract member to the FCI the soonest possible. So here we are, there are new regulations and they have to be followed. If each breeder, each dog owner, each dog lover will help by following the FCI and the KENNEL CLUB OF LEBANON regulations we will reach this aim soon and will have an international FCI C.A.C.I.B (Certificat d’aptitude au Championat International de Beauté) taking place in Lebanon in the near future so let’s work hard and fulfill all our goals.
The friendly dog lovers were:
• Mrs. Ida ALAMEDINE DIAB
• The vets couple Dr. Yves NAAMAN and his wife Françoise NAAMAN
• The film Director and poet Mr. Antoine MECHAHWAR
• Mrs. MERICH and Mr. Joseph GEMAYEL
• Mr. Henri CREMONA
The dogs they had:
Ida and Selim had a boxer “Bunny” a dachshund Brandy, a German shepherd “Chip”, and a Basset hound “Charlie”.
Françoise and Yves had a German shepherd “Missey”
Merich and Joseph had a Samoyed “Folio”
